Music Department to Host Clarinet/Piano Recital

¾¨Ó㴫ý's Department of Music will host Dr. Alice Wang, guest clarinetist, and pianist Dr. Nancy Zipay DeSalvo, ¾¨Ó㴫ý associate professor of music, in a piano duo recital Monday, March 21, at 7:30 p.m. in Orr Auditorium.  The program is free and open to the public.

Concert selections include Luigi Bassi's "Rigoletto Fantasia da Concerto;" Leó Weiner's "Peregi Verbunk, Opus 40;" Charles-Marie Widor's "Introduction et Rondo, Opus 72;" and Carl Maria von Weber's "Grand Duo concertant, Opus 48."

Wang is assistant professor of clarinet for the Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University; principal clarinetist with the Warren Philharmonic Orchestra and Opera Western Reserve; member of the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra; and has been a featured soloist with the Ohio District V Honors Band, W. D. Packard Concert Band, and Youngstown State University Wind Ensemble.

DeSalvo, a Steinway Artist, teaches piano, accompanying, and music theory; performs solo recitals; accompanies visiting guest artists; and travels extensively across the United States as a professional accompanying pianist and chamber music collaborator.  DeSalvo, who joined the ¾¨Ó㴫ý faculty in 1991, earned an undergraduate degree from Youngstown State University, master's from Manhattan School of Music, and doctorate from The Cleveland Institute of Music.
