The ¾¨Ó㴫ý Drinko Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning will host "Value Added Assessment: Theory into Practice" Wednesday, March 30, from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Lakeview Room of the McKelvey Campus Center.

The Drinko Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning was developed to advance world-class teaching at ¾¨Ó㴫ý and enrich K-12 education through outreach programs for area educators.

The workshop features Dr. Stanley Herman, Pennsylvania Value Added Assessment System (PVAAS) advisory committee consultant, and Sharon Kirk, DuBois Area School District Team.

This program, which includes lunch, will help participants become familiar with how the Value Added Assessment System will work in Pennsylvania to track an individual student's academic progress through the grades.  Herman will provide the latest on how this program will be implemented in all districts, while Kirk, who is from a pilot district, will discuss application in her district.

The event is sponsored by the Tri-State Area School Study Council Department of Administrative Policy Studies at the School of Education of the University of Pittsburgh in collaboration with the Drinko Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning at ¾¨Ó㴫ý.

Reading and Writing Across the Curriculum dinner, offered April 7, is the final topic in this series.
