¾¨Ó㴫ý senior biochemistry major Timothy Lynn and Dr. Helen Boylan, ¾¨Ó㴫ý associate professor of chemistry, gave presentations at the 25th annual American Chemical Society Student Members Symposium April 16 at Duquesne University.
Lynn presented a poster on "Investigation of Potential Mechanism-Based Inhibitors of Copper Amine Oxidase," completed as a graduation requirement. The research was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Larry Miller, ¾¨Ó㴫ý assistant professor of chemistry, and supported by an undergraduate research grant from ¾¨Ó㴫ý's Drinko Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning.
Lynn is a son of Daniel and Sharon Lynn of Utica and a graduate of Franklin Area High School.
Boylan presented "Efficacy of Passive Treatment for Abandoned Mine Drainage: Results from a Service-Learning Study" as an invited speaker,
Boylan, a ¾¨Ó㴫ý graduate who joined the faculty in 2001, earned a Ph.D. from Duquesne University.
Approximately 70 participants represented schools in western Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia.
