College to Host Community Breakfast in Honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day

¾¨Ó㴫ý will host a Martin Luther King Jr. Community Remembrance and Celebration Breakfast Thursday, Jan. 19, at 8 a.m. in the Witherspoon Rooms of the McKelvey Campus Center.

Guest speaker will be the Rev. Angel De La Cruz, pastor of Word Centered Fellowship in Masury, Ohio.

¾¨Ó㴫ý student participants include:

Senior Spanish major Bryce Beeghley will share reflections of Martin Luther King Jr.  He is a son of Randall and Darci Beeghley of Connellsville and a graduate of Connellsville Area High School.

Sophomore international business and Spanish major Sierra Bell will read Scripture.  She is a daughter of A. Duwayne and Stephanie Bell of New Castle and a graduate of New Castle High School.

Junior psychology major Simmone Bell will give the welcome.  She is a daughter of A. Duwayne and Stephanie Bell of New Castle and a graduate of New Castle High School.

Junior broadcast communications major Ashley Durham will offer a prayer for the community.  She is a daughter of Jesse and Arlene Durham of Aliquippa and a graduate of Central Valley High School.

Music will be provided by the ¾¨Ó㴫ý Gospel Choir under the direction of Manny Henderson.

The Rev. James Mohr, ¾¨Ó㴫ý chaplain, and the Rev. Jeannette Hubbard, ¾¨Ó㴫ý director of diversity services, will take part in the event.

The community is invited to attend at a cost of $5 per person, payable at the door.  Reservations are required by Friday, Jan. 13, and may be made by calling (724) 946-7117.

Event sponsors are ¾¨Ó㴫ý's Office of the Chaplain and Church Relations; Office of Diversity Services; Black Student Union; Student Government Association Diversity Committee; Peace Studies Program; and Residence Life.
