Education Professor Presents Research

Posted on Tuesday, November 15, 2005

Dr. William Evans, associate professor of education and coordinator of the Counselor Education Graduate Program at ¾¨Ó㴫ý, recently presented his research at the Association of Counselor Education and Supervision national conference in Pittsburgh.

"I made several presentations about my ongoing research and collaboration with professors from California State University at Fresno, Temple University, and Youngstown State University," Evans said.  "The first was a poster presentation, 'Enhancing Live Clinical Supervision Through the Use of an Audio Track Overlay Package,' where we provided an overview of an analog and digital technology recording process that clinical supervisors may use in providing live supervision for counselor trainees.  This process represents a marriage of good clinical supervision with the latest technology, and I'm currently conducting research to further determine the efficiency and effectiveness of this approach."

Evans's second presentation, "Dynamics of Cultural Bias and Discrimination in Public Schools: Creative Solutions for Change," was a review of research conducted on cultural bias and discrimination from student, teacher, and administrator perspectives.

"The last presentation was a facilitated roundtable discussion among professors of counselor education regarding differing values and beliefs held by individuals from differing socioeconomic classes and the curricular implications for programs preparing clinical and school counseling professionals," Evans said.

Evans, who has been with ¾¨Ó㴫ý since 2001, earned his undergraduate degree from The Pennsylvania State University, his master's from Youngstown State University, and his Ph.D. from Kent State University.
