Physics Professor to Present Research at Faculty Forum

Posted on Friday, November 18, 2005

Dr. Craig Caylor, assistant professor of physics at ¾¨Ó㴫ý, will present his research at Faculty Forum Wednesday, Nov. 30, at 11:45 a.m. in the Sebastian Mueller Theater located in the McKelvey Campus Center.

"A student, Colin Campbell, (a  junior physics major from Poland, Ohio) and I have been studying the way that very small droplets of water move in response the vibration of the surface on which the droplet sits," Caylor said.  "We have observed the transition between droplets with fixed borders and those with mobile borders.  We are studying how this transition varies with droplet size."

Faculty Forum, established in 1990, serves as a venue for the exchange of ideas and information among ¾¨Ó㴫ý faculty.  Speakers present their research, teaching ideas, lectures, performances, special programs, and uses of technology to keep faculty informed about the work of colleagues from many disciplines.

Caylor, who has been with ¾¨Ó㴫ý since 2001, earned his undergraduate degree from Kansas State University and his master's and Ph.D. from Cornell University.

Contact Caylor at (724) 946-7202 or e-mail caylorcl@westminster.edu for more information.
