Eight ¾¨Ó㴫ý students recently attended the ninth annual East Central Colleges Undergraduate Mathematics competition held at Mount Union College.
"The competition consisted of students taking a three-hour exam in teams of three or four, working as a group," said Dr. Barbara Faires, professor of mathematics at ¾¨Ó㴫ý. "The exam was written and graded by a mathematician at Concordia College of Minnesota specifically written for this contest. It consisted of 10 problems, ranging from a problem or two that nearly everyone should have been able to solve, to a couple which were of Putnam level and were likely to separate out the most exceptional students."
