John Glista, a senior computer information systems and music major at ¾¨Ó㴫ý, will give a piano recital Sunday, May 9, at 3 p.m. in Orr Auditorium.
Glista's program includes Bach's "Prelude in Fague," Schubert's "A Sonata," Gershwin's "Prelude," Debussy's "Prelude," and a waltz by Chopin.
Glista is a son of John and Christina Glista, Cranberry Township, and a graduate of Seneca Valley High School.
Glista began his music career at age six with piano lessons. While in high school, he got involved in several piano competitions including the American College of Musicians' Guild, and received ratings of superior and superior plus. He also accompanied the high school chorus, and received honoral mention honors in the WQED FM Musical Teens Competition.Â
In 1998, Glista was the winner of a camp scholarship competition that paid his way to a summer music camp at Penn State University. In 2000, he became the first winner of the PPTA Music Scholarship, now offered every year to high school seniors who will be studying music in college.
