The ¾¨Ó㴫ý Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band will give a spring concert Friday, May 7, at 7:30 p.m. in Orr Auditorium, and the Jazz Ensemble will give a concert Saturday, May 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the McKelvey Student Center Lounge.

"The Wind and Symphonic Band concert is a unique blend of established and new music for winds and percussion including Eric Whitacre's "October" and established works including Alfred Reed's "Hounds of Spring" and Ralph Vaughan Williams' "Toccata Marziale," said Dr. R. Tad Greig, director of bands at ¾¨Ó㴫ý.  "We will also feature our Faculty Brass Quintet that includes Paul Gerlach and Andy Erb on trumpets, Rob Cole on horn, Robert Antonucci on tuba, and myself on trombone.

"The Wind Ensemble has just returned from an outstanding performance at the Pennsylvania Music Educators National Association State Convention, where they were a featured performance ensemble," Greig continued.  "This is a first for ¾¨Ó㴫ý and one of the very few times that ensembles from smaller colleges have ever had this performance honor."

Saturday's concert features the ¾¨Ó㴫ý Jazz Ensemble.

"The Jazz Ensemble will present a wonderful mix of styles that I am sure you will enjoy," Greig said.  "We will also unveil the ¾¨Ó㴫ý Faculty Jazz Trio that I am sure will be a hit.  The musicians are: Jeff Wachter on piano; Mark Antonich on guitar; and Jeff Bremer on bass."

Both concerts are free and open to the public.  For more information, contact Greig at (724) 946-7279 or e-mail greigrt@westminster.edu.
