The five-member ¾¨Ó㴫ý business team earned honorable mention honors in the annual Business Plan Challenge sponsored by the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA), and Michael Ranella, a senior accounting major from Greensburg, was awarded an Outstanding Senior Award.

"This year's competition had us research the financial management, marketing and company goals of the trucking industry," said Meredith Kerner, a junior accounting major from Greensburg and team member.  "The top five teams went to Philadelphia to complete the competition.  We had four hours to fix the problem they gave us and rework the plan and financial statements."

Other team members include: Amanda Moore, Sara Noel, Casie Howes, and Daniela DiRupo.

"This was my first year for this competition, but I will definately do it again," Kerner said.  "Even though it was about a 40-hour project, it helped me apply what I learned in a classroom to a real world experience.  It was a valuable experience, and I think it will help me in the future."
