The ¾¨Ó㴫ý Bleasby Colloquia continues Thursday, Feb. 19, at 7 p.m. in the McKelvey Campus Center Theater with Dr. Suzanne Prestien, assistant professor of English and Public Relations, exploring gods of rock music..
The ¾¨Ó㴫ý Marching Band has grown to a record size of 120 members.
Dr. Bryan Rennie, associate professor of religion and philosophy at ¾¨Ó㴫ý, was recently appointed to the Vira I. Heinz Endowed Chair of Religion, an endowed chair funded by the Heinz Foundation.
Arun Gandhi, grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, will speak at ¾¨Ó㴫ý, Tuesday, Feb. 19, at 7:30 p.m. in Orr Auditorium.
"It's a great privilege to have Gandhi speak to our community," said Dr. David Twining, associate professor of history and First-Year Studies Program coordinator at ¾¨Ó㴫ý. "The 20th Century was the most violent in world history, and Mahatma Gandhi, Arun's grandfather, stands in shining contrast to those infamous leaders who used war and genocide to achieve their ends. Arun Gandhi continues the great tradition of nonviolent resistance and peacemaking that began with his grandfather and was inherited by Martin Luther King and others throughout the world."
Dr. Sandra Webster, ¾¨Ó㴫ý professor of psychology, had her textbook, "Hand in Hand: Research Design and Statistics in Behavioral Science," published by Atomic Dog Publishing.
¾¨Ó㴫ý will award Alumni Citations to David Black, the Rev. Dr. Daniel Merry and Mrs. Beth Brown Merry, and Dr. Bille Jean Pearce Rondinelli, and Jason Kalajainen will receive the Outstanding Young Alumni Award at the annual Citation Celebration Reception and Dinner Friday, Sept. 28, in the Witherspoon Rooms of the McKelvey Campus Center.
Dr. Bryan Rennie, ¾¨Ó㴫ý associate professor and chair of the Department of Religion, History, Philosophy and Classics, served on the external review committee that examined the religious studies department of Wesleyan University (Conn.).
Dr. Charlene Klassen Endrizzi, ¾¨Ó㴫ý professor of education, gave a presentation at the 98th annual National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) conference Nov. 21 in San Antonio.
¾¨Ó㴫ý senior sociology major Jacquelin Linville received an Undergraduate Research Grant from ¾¨Ó㴫ý's Drinko Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning.
Dr. Katherine Robertson, ¾¨Ó㴫ý assistant professor of biology, presented a seminar at Youngstown (Ohio) State University's Department of Biology April 23.
