The ¾¨Ó㴫ý Drinko Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning will host "Reading and Writing in Science Classes Clinic" Monday, April 25, from 4-6 p.m. in the Lakeview Room of the McKelvey Campus Center.
 The workshop features Dr. Charles Gorman and other recognized science professionals who will focus on approaches to teaching reading and writing in science classrooms. This program is an extension of the Literacy Coaches Clinics Tri-State have been convening throughout the school year. This focus on the application of reading and writing strategies in science is in response to the present plans of the Department of Education to test students in grades four, seven and ten in science, beginning with a "field test" in 2005-06 and following with an assessment of all students in science in those grades in 2006-07.
The Drinko Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning was developed to advance world-class teaching at ¾¨Ó㴫ý and enrich K-12 education through outreach programs for area educators.
The event is sponsored by the Tri-State Area School Study Council Department of Administrative Policy Studies at the School of Education of the University of Pittsburgh in collaboration with the Drinko Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning at ¾¨Ó㴫ý.

¾¨Ó㴫ý seniors are invited to attend the 10th annual "Dine 'n Shine" Tuesday, Feb. 21, at 5:30 p.m. in the Witherspoon Room located in the McKelvey Campus Center.
"During a lovely sit-down meal, Dr. Cary Horvath [professor of communications at Youngstown State University] will speak about 'The Finesse of Business Dining,' such as the importance of not ordering spaghetti or French onion soup or wine at a business meal," said Jackie Meade, director of the ¾¨Ó㴫ý Career Center. "Ralph Dise '74, CEO and President of Dise and Company, will talk about "Making the Most of Your First Job," and Roberta Laird '76, independent local evaluator for Even Start, will talk about "Volunteerism and ¾¨Ó㴫ý Connections."
This event also features a style show of business attire modeled by 10 ¾¨Ó㴫ý students. The clothing and shoes for this show are on loan courtesy of Grove City Prime Outlet stores: Kasper ASL Limited, Haggar Clothing Company, and Rockport Shoes.

Armor & Sturtevant, a husband and wife due from Erie, have rescheduled their musical performance Tuesday, April 10, at 7:30 p.m. in the Down Under, ¾¨Ó㴫ý's non-alcoholic pub located in the basement of Eichenauer Hall.
The ¾¨Ó㴫ý sophomore honor society, Lambda Sigma, has received recognition as an "Honor Chapter" from the National Executive Board.
Thirty-two ¾¨Ó㴫ý students are studying in England, Spain, Korea, France, Washington, D.C., and Pittsburgh for the fall semester.
The ¾¨Ó㴫ý Saxophone Quintet will have a studio recital Sunday, March 18, at 3 p.m. at Wallace Memorial Chapel. The event is free and open to the public.
¾¨Ó㴫ý Planetarium will present "'Tis the Season," the winter holiday show, Nov. 29 and 30, Dec. 1, 6, 7, and 8 at 7 p.m. in the Hoyt Science Resources Center room 116.
Three ¾¨Ó㴫ý students and three recent graduates participated in a study trip to Germany and the Netherlands offered by the ¾¨Ó㴫ý Historic Organ Program and led by Dr. Elizabeth Harrison, director of the ¾¨Ó㴫ý Historic Organ Program.

Gloamin, a composition for flute and piano written by Dr. Daniel Perttu, ¾¨Ó㴫ý assistant professor of music theory and composition, was featured in a concert tour of southern states.
