Five ¾¨Ó㴫ý mathematics and computer science faculty attended the annual Joint Mathematics Meetings of the American Mathematical Society and the Mathematical Association of America Jan. 5-8 in Washington, D.C.

¾¨Ó㴫ý's Celebrity Series for Kids will present Enchantment Theatre Company's stage adaptation of The Adventures of Harold and the Purple Crayon Thursday, Nov. 5, at 7 p.m. in Orr Auditorium.
¾¨Ó㴫ý's fraternities and sororities raised over $10,000 in money and canned goods during Greek Week 2010.
Six ¾¨Ó㴫ý English majors received Travel/Presentation Grants from ¾¨Ó㴫ý's Drinko Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning to present papers at the Susquehanna University Literature and Creative Writing Conference Feb. 20-21.

Two editors and the faculty adviser to ¾¨Ó㴫ý's The Holcad student newspaper attended the National College Media Convention Oct. 27-30 in Orlando, Fla.


NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Peggy Cox, ¾¨Ó㴫ý professor of art, attended Felting Workshops June 2-6 at the Pittsburgh Society for Contemporary Craft.

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Bethann Dolan, a 1991 ¾¨Ó㴫ý graduate, will give the 26th annual Wayne H. Christy Lecture during Vespers Sunday, April 7, at 7 p.m. in ¾¨Ó㴫ý's Wallace Memorial Chapel. The service is free to the public.
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - "Networking 101," an alumni dessert reception and panel discussion focusing on proper networking techniques, will be offered to ¾¨Ó㴫ý students 7-8 p.m. Thursday, April 3, in the Lakeview Dining Room of the McKelvey Campus Center.
The ¾¨Ó㴫ý math team recently took third place at the 7th annual East Central Colleges' Undergraduate Mathematics Competition held at Hiram College.
The ¾¨Ó㴫ý team members are: Alan Higby, a senior mathematics and computer science major, is a son of Douglas and Linda Higby, Meadville, and a graduate of Meadville Area High School; Bradley Patton, a senior mathematics and computer science major, is a son of Thomas and Karen Patton, Edinburg, and a graduate of Mohawk Area High School; and Jessalyn Smith, a senior mathematics and physics major, is a daughter of Terry Schreckengost and Grant Smith, New Castle, and a graduate of Mohawk Area High School.
Members of the ECC include Bethany College, Heidelberg College, Hiram College, Marietta College, Mount Union College, Muskingum College, Otterbein College, West Virginia Wesleyan College, and ¾¨Ó㴫ý.

¾¨Ó㴫ý will host the third annual Dr. J. Calvin Rose Memorial Seminar Wednesday, March 2, from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Lakeview Room of the McKelvey Campus Center.
The guest speaker is the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Bailey, international author and lecturer in Middle Eastern New Testament Studies. His topic, "Jesus Interprets His Own Cross," is intended to help pastors and lay persons with their own sermon preparation regarding the theology of the cross during Lent and for personal spiritual renewal.
Ordained by the Presbyterian Church (USA), Bailey spent 40 years living and teaching for seminars and institutes in Egypt, Lebanon, Jerusalem, and Cyprus. For 20 of those years, he was a professor of New Testament and head of the Biblical Division of the Near East School of Theology in Beirut. For ten years, Bailey was on the faculty of The Ecumenical Institute for Theological Research in Jerusalem. Bailey also spent time as Theologian in Residence with the Episcopal Diocese of Cyprus and the Gulf, and Canon of the Cathedral.
The Dr. J. Calvin Rose Memorial Seminar honors Dr. J. Calvin Rose, who was a 1933 alumnus of ¾¨Ó㴫ý. He served as pastor of the Second Presbyterian Church in New Castle from 1937-1955, and then at the Miami Shores Presbyterian Church in Florida until his retirement in 1978.Â
