The ¾¨Ó㴫ý Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band will present a concert Friday, May 4, at the Orr Auditorium, and the ¾¨Ó㴫ý Jazz Ensemble will give a concert Saturday, May 5, at the outdoor Anderson Amphitheater. Both concerts are under the direction of R. Tad Greig, and are scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
CEO of the Population Institute Werner Fornos, an internationally-recognized authority on issues of world population growth, will speak at ¾¨Ó㴫ý Tuesday, Nov. 19, at 7 p.m. in Hoyt Science Resources Center Phillips Lecture Hall.
Christina Contes, a senior elementary education and Spanish major at ¾¨Ó㴫ý, was recently awarded the Academic Year Ambassadorial Scholarship by the Pittsburgh Rotary.
"I will be studying Spanish at la Universidad de Sevilla," said Contes. "This scholarship provides an equivalent of $25,000 for round-trip transportation, tuition, fees, room and board, and some educational supplies. I was nominated by my sponsor, William Hall of Lower Burrell, and was one of only eight winners."

Dr. Edward S. Cohen, ¾¨Ó㴫ý associate professor of political science, recently presented a paper at the "Globalization Comes Home: How Globalization is Transforming the West" conference held at the University of California, Berkeley.
Mortar Board and Kappa Delta Pi, ¾¨Ó㴫ý honor societies, are collaborating to collect new and gently used books during November.
The ¾¨Ó㴫ý Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa, the national leadership honor society for juniors and seniors, recognized 10 "Most Outstanding First-Year Students" at a reception April 29.

Dr. Russell Martin, ¾¨Ó㴫ý associate professor of history, will share "Exiled from the Classroom" at Faires Faculty Forum Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 11:40 a.m. in the Sebastian Mueller Theater in the McKelvey Campus Center.

Rhapsody, a composition for clarinet, violin, and piano written by Dr. Daniel Perttu, ¾¨Ó㴫ý assistant professor of music theory and composition, was performed Nov. 8 at the Bakersfield Symphony New Directions concert in Bakersfield, Calif.

Dr. Helen Boylan, Wesmtinster College associate professor of chemistry, and Mallory Strickland, a 2008 ¾¨Ó㴫ý graduate, have been published in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine.
¾¨Ó㴫ý's Department of Music will host guest composer Dr. David Cutler for a master class and workshop on composition and entrepreneurship Saturday, April 2, at noon in Patterson Hall 53. Following the workshop, a student composers concert will be held at 3 p.m. in Wallace Memorial Chapel. The concert is free and open to the public.
