NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Dr. Camila Bari de López, ¾¨Ó㴫ý associate professor of Spanish, earned a Fulbright Visiting Scholar grant for the 2013-2014 academic year.
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Three ¾¨Ó㴫ý media art + design students and one fine art student showcased work from various media art + design courses during the Spring Semester at the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust.
Dr. Jacob Erhardt, professor emeritus of German at ¾¨Ó㴫ý, recently received recognition for his founding of the International Film Festival.
During a ceremony, the series was renamed in his honor as the Jacob Erhardt International Film Series, and a plaque was presented. The plaque was placed in the Sebastian Mueller Theater in the McKelvey Campus Center at ¾¨Ó㴫ý, where the films are shown.
"Jake taught German at the College for 36 years and was a major contributor to his field and the campus," said Dr. Ann Murphy-Dammron, chair of the Department of Modern Languages. "We hope this is one way that he and his contributions will always be remembered here."
Erhardt, who taught at ¾¨Ó㴫ý from 1968 until his retirement in 2004, earned his undergraduate degree from Baldwin-Wallace College, his master's from Middlebury College, and his Ph.D. from Case Western Reserve University. While at ¾¨Ó㴫ý he served as chair of his department from 1970-1986, was the Language Educator of the Year by the Pennsylvania State Modern Language Association, translated into English Robert Reitzel's Adventures of a Greenhorn, and was recognized by the National Endowment for the Humanities as an outstanding member.

¾¨Ó㴫ý Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) team students recently competed in a national business competition, "Duel in the Desert," held in Tuscon, Ariz.
The team members are: Sybil Feightner, a senior accounting major from Mantua, Ohio; Lindsay Lutes, a senior mathematics major from Grove City; and Lauren Scheller, a junior business administration from Orlando, Fla.
"We were presented a problem that centered around a family that was in financial crisis," Feightner said. "The teams had to construct short, intermediate, and life-time solutions."
"The 18 teams were divided into four leagues, and only the top team in each league advanced," Lutes said. "William and Mary College, which included some MBAs, won our league, but we were told that it was hard to decide between them and us."
"¾¨Ó㴫ý courses gave me the knowledge to compete," Feightner said. "I learned a lot about more about mortgages in the competition."

More than 380 ¾¨Ó㴫ý students earned Dean's List recognition for the 2005 fall semester.
The Dean's List recognizes students who attain a grade point average of at least 3.6 on a 4.0 scale.
"Season of Light" can be viewed at the ¾¨Ó㴫ý Planetarium Thursday-Saturday, Dec. 4-6 at 7 p.m. with a matinee at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6.
¾¨Ó㴫ý will host "Abundant Blessings," a series of 10 church-related workshops Sunday, May 6, from 2-8:15 p.m. in Orr Auditorium.
Theatre ¾¨Ó㴫ý will present the musical-comedy Crazy for You, Wednesday-Saturday, Nov. 13-16, at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 17, at 2:30 p.m. in Beeghly Theater.
Dr. C. David Shaffer, assistant professor of computer science at ¾¨Ó㴫ý, continues Faculty Forum Wednesday, Feb. 13, at 11:45 a.m. in Patterson Hall room 311.
Shafer's presentation, "Object-Oriented Programming" examines the basic principles of object-oriented programming and gives some examples.
Sarah Timm, a ¾¨Ó㴫ý senior music education major from St. Marys, will compete in the 2007 Miss Pennsylvania contest June 23.
