NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - ¾¨Ó㴫ý's Concert Choir and Chamber Singers will present a Spring Choral Concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 27, in Wallace Memorial Chapel. The Women's Chorus and Men's Chorus will present a combined Spring Concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 25, also at the Chapel.

¾¨Ó㴫ý Preschool Celebrates "Week of the Young Child"

In celebration of the "Week of the Young Child" ¾¨Ó㴫ý preschool children enjoyed several special events.

The children displayed their artwork at the New Wilmington Post Office and Borough Building; enjoyed a reading by ¾¨Ó㴫ý President R. Thomas Williamson, explored the ceramics at ¾¨Ó㴫ý; and celebrated Arbor Day with Dr. Clarence Harms planting trees at the outdoor field station.Ìý The ¾¨Ó㴫ý Preschool and other Lawrence County daycare providers also presented a tent fair at Cascade Park Pavilion for children and families in the area.

The Week of the Young Child is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Associate for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).Ìý The purpose of the observation is to focus on the rights and needs of young children.Ìý

"It's a celebration of young children, and those who help children make the most of their opportunities in the early years," said Diana Reed, head preschool teacher at ¾¨Ó㴫ý.Ìý "It's also a time to encourage others to join in giving all young children a great start.Ìý The Week of the Young Child is a national celebration, but its strength comes from hundreds of local programs in communities like ours."
